Do you dare, to be (kind of) bare?, The sheer genius trend of peekaboo fabric isn't new to the runways, but this season's modest approach is a certainly breath of fresh air.
Prabal Gurung, for instance, added a matching leotard under a dress that without proper underpinnings, would warrant an indecent exposure charge. And rather than reveal too much, Altuzarra added a mesh insert at the torso of a body-hugging frock. The catch? The designer threw on top a masculine parka to keep the ensemble appropriate for mixed company.
Finally, there was Jason Wu. As if his theatric black lace headband veils didn't already add an air of mystery, the young designer sent very wearable separates made entirely of lace down the runway.
How does one translate sheer fabric from runway to real way? It's what you wear underneath that matters most. To ensure your look is sheer elegance, pair with more conservative pieces, like with longer hemlines.
