Lanvin Jewelry - Sunglasses

Lanvin jewelry fans can add something new (and slightly more affordable) to their wish lists: Alber Elbaz has created a new sunglasses collection with De Rigo that is scheduled to hit the counter—in Paris at least—in time for New Year’s Eve. The first wave of 18 styles (13 for women, 4 for men, and one for all) take their cues from, on one side, the Art Deco-inspired jewelry designed for Lanvin by Elie Top and, on the other, industrial elements, with hammered silver or horn frames set with rivets. Prices start at around €300.

Amazing Rodarte’s Renaissance Art

For their Spring 2012 Rodarte collection, Kate and Laura Mulleavy drew on the work of Vincent van Gogh, but the designing sisters have also been dabbling in Fra Angelico’s Renaissance frescoes of late. This weekend, they unveiled RODARTE: Fra Angelico Collection, an installation of gowns inspired by the Italian artist’s work, at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art (LACMA). The silk dresses (which first debuted at Pitti Immagine last summer) are on display in the museum’s Italian Renaissance gallery next to works by Angelico and his peers. The painter’s style comes through in the Mulleavys’ use of the same rich colors. Unfortunately for Rodarte devotees like Kirsten Dunst and the Fanning sisters, no one’s getting their hands on these frocks, because they’re going in the museum’s permanent collection after the installation comes down February 5.

Fantastic Design Gemstone Necklace

If you’re a colored gemstone fan you must try out the new customizable jewelry site Gemvara. Seen everywhere from Lucky Magazine to the Emmy red carpets, their Naked Gems Collection is chic, super wearable, and fun to customize. More details after the jump.

The site is simple, clean, and makes customizing your jewelry really easy. With each click, you can see their combo options between gemstones and chain metals so you know exactly what your custom piece will look like. We had a lot of fun designing a sterling silver chain paired with their new, super dark London Blue Topaz gemstone.

Also of note, their customer service is amazing — we were notified every step of the way from its production here in NYC to the moment the necklace arrived at our door (beautifully packaged by the way). Looking exactly as it did online, the piece is perfect for all our upcoming holiday events, a definite keeper for that perfect pop of color. For more information, visit them at Gemvara.com

Justin Bieber and Selena Gomez to Ring in the New Year in NYC

It looks like teen love birds Selena Gomez and Justin Bieber will be ringing in the New Year together in New York City. Gomez is slated to perform at MTV‘s NYE Bash and Bieber will join Lady Gaga, Pitbull and Hot Chelle Rae to celebrate the 40th anniversary of Rockin’ New Year’s Eve with hosts Dick Clark and Ryan Seacrest. I wonder if the pop stars will share a midnight kiss?

“Hey Everyone– Not sure if you know but, I will be the first performance for MTV in 2012 at the strike of midnight I will be performing at MTV’s NYE Party. Wanna join me in New York for the countdown?” Gomez posted on her Facebook.

I’ll probably too blasted on champagne, whiskey and various narcotics to care about any of this, but perhaps you do? Let us know in the comments.

Amazing Banner Year with Michael Kors

Michael Kors has been having a banner year, and his streak doesn’t seem to be ending anytime soon. In February, the designer marked his 30th year in business. Next, he opened an expansive, 7,000-square-foot space on Rue Saint-Honoré in Paris and then revamped his Madison Avenue flagship. His quest for worldwide retail domination continued last night in Los Angeles with the opening of his latest store, where Zoe Saldana, Kate Mara, and Minka Kelly turned out to the new Robertson Boulevard shop to show their support at a special celebration benefiting St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.

“I’ve been in love with Los Angeles since visiting my grandparents out there when I was a kid—I couldn’t imagine a more glamorous place than L.A. in the seventies,” Kors tells Style.com. “Even now, there’s nowhere else I can get my fix of people-watching on Robertson, great service at the Beverly Hills Hotel, drinks at the Polo Lounge, and a burger from In-N-Out.”

Though Kors wasn’t in town for the event, he turned over hosting duties to stylist Petra Flannery, whose admiration for the designer made her apt for the task. “He’s the ultimate American designer,” Flannery said. “There’s a classicism to his designs that really works for people. They could be 50 years old or 19.” For her part, Kelly—a Flannery client and Kors devotee—lauded Kors’ ability to zero in on exactly what women want. “He just gets femininity and accentuates all the right places so you can be sexy without overdoing it,” said Kelly, who was fittingly wearing a Michael Kors Resort ‘12 optic white body-con bouclé sheath dress.Via
